Yuvraj Singh: A Lion Of Cricketing World

Yuvraj Singh has always been one of India’s best players when there are only a few overs to play. He was the Player of the Series for the 2011 Cricket World Cup and 2007 T20 World Cup. He always did his best on the big stage and when it counted. Yuvraj Singh is one of India’s best cricket players. Here is a list of his top eight best innings.

According to t 20 world cup update, following are some of the magnificent t innings of Yuvraj Singh for India.

  1.  58(16) against England, T20 World cup 2007 –

When people think of Yuvraj Singh, they immediately think of his Super 8 match against England in the first T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007 and how Stuart Broad gave him 6 sixes in one over.

Yuvraj Singh got to 50 in the 19th over of the innings, which is a new record for the fastest T20I half-century. He only batted for 12 balls. Yuvraj set another record when he hit 7 sixes and scored 58 runs off 16 balls. This time, it was in a Twenty20 International between two teams with ODI status, which is the shortest version of the game.

  1.  113(123) against West Indies, 2011 World Cup –

India had 51/2 runs after 8.3 overs, and Yuvraj Singh was batting third. He and Virat Kohli put together 122 runs for the team. Even though India lost 7 wickets and 50 runs in the last over, going from 218/3 to 268 all out, Yuvraj Singh’s efforts helped the team get a good score and a key win in the World Cup. The West Indies were bowled out for 188, giving India a victory by 80 runs.

  1.  57(65)* against Australia, 2011 World Cup Quarter-finals –

After doing well in the ICC Knockouts in 2000 and the T20 World Cup semifinals in 2007, Yuvraj Singh again did a great job in a knockout match against Australia in an ICC competition.

India had to score 262 runs to win, and after 28.3 overs, they were at 143/3. Yuvraj came in. They were down to 187/5 after 37.4 overs and still needed 74 runs off 75 balls.

India won by five wickets in large part because Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina batted together without stopping for 74 runs off of 61 balls.

  1. 138(78)* against England, Rajkot 2008 –

This series against England was supposed to have seven one-day internationals (ODIs), but it was cut down to five. In the first ODI, Yuvraj Singh proved why he is considered one of the finest sluggers in international cricket history.

The fact that Yuvraj Singh was still able to knock enormous 6s while having an ailing back and wearing a bandage on his back just adds to the extraordinary nature of this innings.

Yuvraj Singh hit 16 fours and 6 sixes and scored 138 runs off 78 balls, for a strike rate of 176. (great not only in ODIs but also in T20Is).

India scored 387 runs in 50 overs, thanks in large part to Yuvraj Singh, and then easily beat England by 158 runs when they bowled them out for 229 runs.

  1. 85* against England, Chennai 2008 –

In the 2008 Chennai Test, India beat England by 4 runs. This was the first Test match to be played here. After India took a commanding 5-0 lead in the above ODI series, the number of games was cut from seven to five because of the Mumbai terrorist attacks in November 2008. England thought they could turn things around after giving India a target of 387 runs in about 3.5 sessions.

India got off to a good start when Virender Sehwag hit 83 runs off 68 balls. This set the stage for India to win. But Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh put the finishing touches on it. India needed 163 more runs to win, and the score was 224/4 when Yuvraj Singh came out to join Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar scored the most runs with 103*, and Yuvraj Singh helped him out with an unbeaten knock of 85*. Together, they kept India from losing any more wickets, which led to a 6-wicket win and India’s second-highest run chase in Tests, after the 406 runs they scored against the West Indies in Port of Spain in 1976.

  1. 150(127) vs England, Cuttack 2017 –

In 2017, Yuvraj Singh scored 150 to win the second of three one-day internationals (ODIs) against England. In 2011, Yuvraj Singh beat cancer and came back to play well. This was his first and only century in a one-day international.

After England put India in, they lost quickly and were only 25/3 after 4.4 overs. Then Yuvraj Singh took over and showed why he is so well-known by smashing their bowlers for 150 runs in 127 deliveries. Yuvraj Singh was out with 7 overs left and a chance to get to 200 in an ODI, but he was still picked for the 2017 Champions Trophy after scoring 150.

In terms of the game itself, India won by 15 runs after England, trying hard to beat India’s score of 381.6, reached 366-8 after 50 overs thanks to a hit by Yuvraj Singh.

  1.  77(35)* against Australia, Rajkot 2013 –

India and Australia played their one and only Twenty20 International in 2013. It took place before the historic India-Australia One-Day International series, which changed the format for good. Australia batted first and scored 201/7 in 20 overs, giving India 202 runs to beat.

India needed 102 runs off of 53 balls to win, and they were 80/3 after 8.3 overs when Yuvraj came to the crease. Yuvraj Singh then took over and hit 77* off just 35 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. This helped India win by 6 wickets with 2 balls to spare.

  1.  60(25)* against Sri Lanka, Mohali 2009 –

In 2009, in the second game of a series against Sri Lanka, India had its best run chase in Twenty20 Internationals. This record still stands.

Sri Lanka won the coin toss and chose to bat first. After 20 overs, they had a score of 206/7. At 108/2 after 11 overs, when Yuvraj Singh came to the crease, India needed another 99 runs off 54 balls to win. India finally reached their goal with 5 balls to spare, thanks to Yuvraj Singh, who hit 60 off of 25 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Yuvraj Singh scored 69 runs off of 63 balls in the 2002 Natwest final, and he and Mohammad Kaif helped India win from a 146-5 deficit.
